Let’s read and write with Little Miss Muffet provides suggestions for a series of lessons developing oral language, reading, writing and imagination. The lessons, based on the nursery rhyme Little Miss Muffet, are designed for use on the interactive whiteboard with the whole class or small group. They encourage children to contribute ideas to discussions that may lead to writing.
Writing can occur at almost any point throughout the lessons and can involve modelled writing by the teacher, collaborative writing between teacher and children, and independent student writing.
In addition to Little Miss Muffet, the resource includes an example of an innovation on the rhyme, a copy of Little Jack Horner which uses the same structure as Little Miss Muffet, and explanations of words that may be unfamiliar such as tuffet, curds and whey.
