Warm Pacific Greetings

As a Pacific-born parent of four children, I know how important it is to not only keep our languages and cultures alive for our children and to inspire them to reach their full potential.

CulturalHubb came about because I found it almost impossible to find culturally-relevant educational tools and resources for my kids. I came to realise that I was not alone, and lots of parents from my own and other cultures told me they had also been looking for something like this but hadn't been able to find it.

Before creating CulturalHubb I worked in the health and education promotion sector for over 10 years, which gave me a deep insight into what stimulates learning in children from early years and throughout their childhood.  I knew that culturally-relevant, fun toys, and educational tools used at home, in early childhood centres and classrooms would get children of all ages excited about discovering and learning about their own and other cultures.

And I was right!  All our products have been assessed by educators, teachers, principals, community groups, parents and kids.  The feedback has been universally positive, showing that there's a real need for culturally-specific educational resources.  What's more, all of our products and resources align with New Zealand's educational curriculum and meet the New Zealand Ministry of Education's Basic Equipment List requirements.

It's not just about educating kids; it's also about keeping cultures alive by supporting indigenous communities and artists to communicate their culture through their art and in turn allowing children to develop awareness and understanding of the significance of cultural heritage in their world.

At present our range offers educational resources that cover all Pacific cultures, as well as Samoan and Tongan language skill resources.  Over time this range will expand to include language and educational resources for other cultures.  Take a look at our product range to find out more!

About CulturalHubb

CulturalHubb is based in Auckland, New Zealand -  a city that has the world's largest Polynesian population.  Being located so close to many different Pacific cultures means that we can work closely with many different communities to ensure that all of our products are culturally appropriate.

Cultural integrity lies at the heart of everything we do.  We consult widely with educators and cultural communities when developing products and, where possible, cultural resources such as drums and upeti pattern ink boards are made by craftspeople from those cultures.  What's more, learning is reinforced because our cultural products' use of language and themes is integrated across all parts of the product range.
